Product Groups

A product group is the core structure of Rubik Combined Listings. It allows you to combine multiple separate Shopify products and display them as swatches on the storefront, effectively turning them into visual variants of a single product.

When creating a product group, you will define two main fields:

  • Internal name – Used only inside the app for management purposes.
  • Option name – The label shown on the storefront, such as Color, Size, Material, or any custom attribute.

You can then search and select products using Shopify’s native product picker. Selected products appear in a table where each one can be configured individually.

For each product in the group, you can define:

  • Option value – The label displayed on the swatch, such as Black, Red, or Large.
  • Color – Selected using the built in color picker with an eyedropper tool.
  • Custom image – A dedicated swatch image that does not need to exist in the product’s media gallery.
  • Category – Used to organize swatches into subgroups if needed.

On the right sidebar, you can control the group’s status and set its display order. If a product belongs to multiple groups, groups with lower display order values will appear first on the storefront.
